En Ecuador existe mucha devocion a la Virgen del Carmen desde epocas coloniales, es asi que el arte colonial ha dedicado a la Virgen del Carmen. En Quito, ciudad andina y Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad, existe un grandioso arte dedicado a la Comunidad Carmelita. Pero hace unos meses hubo un robo infame. De la Iglesia Colonial de Cotocollao se sustraeon un cuadro de la Virgen del Carmen salvando a las almas del purgatorio. Esto ha indignado al pueblo, pero los que amamos el arte y a la Virgen queremos hacer nuevamente la pintura, el padre de la Iglesia esta de acuerdo en que dos artistas hagamos la obra. Pero necesitamos imagenes de pinturas de la Virgen del Carmen salvando a las almas. Es dificil hallar en internet he buscado y no hay. I am trying to reach the Carmelite community in Quezon City. At the end of WWII my father was in the Army there, and he helped the monasterie in various ways. He has always been fond of and prayed for the Carmelites.They said they would be forever grateful to him for the things he did, and would always remember him in their prayers. It has been a long long time and now he is in the hospital with a staph infection and heart and breathing instability. I ask respectfully that they please pray for him. Thank you.

Last year I returned to the sacraments and am now praying the liturgy of the hours daily as well as attending Mass evey Sunday. Since I am working for the US Government overseas I don't have to opportunity to get to Mass daily. I spend most of my time from work praying and reading spiritual books. I sent an e-mail to Illinois asking what I would need to do to get back into the grace of Carmel but received an answer the third order does not exist any longer with no other explanation. Am I still considered a part of Carmel? Thanks sean O'Leary
